Period House in Rathgar
This project involved the general refurbishment of
a victorian house in Rathgar and the demolition of
an existing conservatory to the rear and it’s
replacement with a courtyard and a large light
filled family kitchen / dining extension.
The courtyard allows for a degree of separation
between the existing ground floor reception rooms
and the extension and maintains natural light and
ventilation to the existing rooms. Having separate
rooms rather than a large open plan area becomes
increasingly important with older children and
lends itself well to old houses. The link between
the extension and the existing house also provides
a good location for storage, a guest w.c. and
utility areas.
